Ujung Kulon National Park in Sumur sub district, Pandeglang district, Banten, will be promoted to be a world wildlife park so it will be of greater benefit to the region`s development, a local official said.

“To date, the park has yet to generate significant benefit for the local, national and even international communty,” Pandeglang District Chief Dimyati Natakusumah said in a press statement on Monday as the Antara News reports.

He said to optimize the park`s multiplier effect on development at the local, national and international levels, the status of the area should be raised to that of a world-class conservation area.

He added the park deserved such a status as it was the habitat of many rhinos and many other animal and plant species.

About the needed funds, he said the district administration would be ready to finance it, from the infrastructure, fencing and mapping to make the area a world-class fauna park.

He added a team would be established to cooperate with the park management to start the development program.
