Jemaah Islamiah a Constant Threat
The Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terror group remains a major threat with some 900 members, and it is shifting its attention to Muslim-Christian conflict areas in Indonesia, says a new report. JI is also switching its tactics - from spectacular mass bombings to more focused attacks on local authority figures such as police officers, prosecutors and priests, said the report released yesterday by the International Crisis Group (ICG). The terror group has gained notoriety for attacks on Western interests, notably the 2002 and 2005 Bali bombings which together killed more than 200 people, many of them Australians.
