Indonesia Receives WHO Award

Indonesia has been awarded by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its participation in the preliminary development of vaccine vial monitors, a device used to assess vaccine conditions. The award, in the form of “Certificate in Honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Implementation of Vaccine Vial Monitors” was handed by the WHO Assistant Director-General for Family and Community Health Affairs, Daisy Mafubelu to the Indonesian Ambassador for Britain Marty Natalegawa.

“The award was handed for the Indonesian contribution toward the global society health,” second secretary of the Indonesian Representatives Office in Geneva Yasmi Adriansyah said in a statement made available.

Similar awards were also presented to Argentine, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Eqypt, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

An Indonesian vaccine manufactory company, PT Bio Farma also got similar award as the company has taken active part for global health interest.

The handing over of the award was held in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Vaccine Vial Monitors (VVM) scheme which was launched first in 1996 by the purchasing units of the United Nations.

VM is an equipment giving protection to the vaccine.
