Located on the bank of the Gajah Wong River on Jalan Solo, Affandi designed and constructed a home for himself, which also functions as a museum to display his paintings. The museum has around 250 of Affandi’s paintings. And now, the brilliant works of Affandi are to be exhibited at the Neka Museum in Bali. Here’s the article from the Antara News:
Affandi Exhibition at Neka Museum: Bali
Neka Museum will display works of one of Indonesia`s most famous painters, Affandi, at Ubud, Gianyar, Bali province, from August 12 to 16, 2007.
“The exhibition will show around 20 of Affandi`s paintings. The works have been obtained from art collectors in Bali and Yogyakarta,” Neka Museum Manager and founder Pande Wayan Suteja Neka said.
The painting exhibition would be organized coinciding with the centennial commemoration of the birthday of Affandi who was born in Yogyakarta around one hundred years ago and had produced numerous paintings on Balinese social and cultural life.
Neka Museum, which was set up 25 years ago, has a collection of several of Affandi`s paintings and 218 sacred Indonesian traditional daggers. The museum has a total of 631 works of art consisting of, among other things, paintings and scupltures.
