Novotel Yogyakarta Back in Business: Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia
In Yogyakarta there is a variety of accommodation to suit all travellers ranging from your cheap losmen to mid-range hotels and the 5 star luxury hotels.
One of these, the Novotel Yogyakarta, was damaged by the devastating earthquake recently, but, has now reopened for business. Of course I would never stay there when I am in town much preferring to ‘get down’ with the locals. Here’s the article from the Jakarta Post:
YOGYAKARTA: Following a period of refurbishment since the May 27 earthquake Accor’s Novotel Yogyakarta hotel on Jl. Sudirman reopened to the public in the middle of last month.
“We are happy to be back in business again. Hopefully, that will help Yogyakarta to recover from the devastating earthquake,” Accor regional public relations manager Erny Kusmastuti said.
The hotel, said Erny, suffered only minor damage from the earthquake. To speed up renovation the hotel was temporarily closed to the public, reopening Aug. 14 after the first phase was completed.
Currently, 88 of its total 200 rooms are available. The remainder are expected to be ready before the start of the upcoming holiday season.
“During the renovation we held in-house training for our employees to explain to them the new facilities we have provided at the hotel,” said Erny, adding that the refurbishment cost the hotel some US$2 million.
Among the facilities are new wooden flooring for each room, furniture, wallpaper, TVs and decorative lamps.
“All the facilities in public areas, as well as the hotel exterior, kitchen floor and air-conditioning have also been refurbished,” Erny said.
For promotional purposes, the hotel is also offering a special rate of only Rp 440,000 per night. Bookings may be made at Accor Call Center on 0807 1777777 or via its website www.accorhotels.com/asia.
