Indonesia Wants Deforestation

No Comments Indonesia is pushing to include deforestation in any agreement on combating global warming during December’s U.N.-led climate talks in Bali, the environment minister said on Friday. The conference on the resort island is expected to initiate talks on clinching a new deal by 2009 to fight global warming. The existing pact, the Kyoto Protocol, runs out in 2012. Under Kyoto, about 35 rich nations are obliged to cut emissions by 5 percent below 1990 levels by 2008-12.
