‘Asam Jawa’: Indonesia

In Bahasa Indonesia tamarind is called asam jawa. Actually, besides the tamarind trees producing sour fruits, trees producing sweet fruits of the asam jawa, or Tamarindus Indica Linn, exist. But the main connotation of the asam jawa tree is having sour fruits as gastronome and epicurean el supremo Suryatini N. Ganie explains.

Image of the Day: Malioboro Mall, Yogyakarta, Central Java

There are many shopping malls in Yogyakarta city but none that are in the dead centre of town except of course for the Ramai Mall. Malioboro Mall offers everything for all manner of shoppers, and, has some excellent restorans. Opening at 10am and closing at 9pm, it is a hive of activity all the day ad night.

Burger King Chain to Expand into Indonesia
