Total Lunar Eclipse in Indonesia

The people in Indonesia will be able to see a total lunar eclipse on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. The Boscha observatory will conduct a joint monitoring and observation of the total lunar eclipse along with of the Bandung Institute of Technology`s Astronomy Department.

Porpoise Conservation Area: Kalimantan

The East Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has been exploring the possibility of turning part of Mahakam river into a conservation area to save Mahakam porpoises (orcaella brevirostris, sp) from extinction, an official said.

Sea Turtles’ Protection: Kalimantan

First, there is a slight movement in the sand; then a small crater appears and suddenly, dozens of tiny turtles swarm out of the ground. Instinctively, these little reptiles know exactly in which direction they must go.

Indonesian Forest Fires a Global Menace

Greenpeace challenged the Indonesian government to immediately declare a moratorium on the conversion and destruction of peat land forests to put a stop to the country`s annual cycle of forest fires, which has now become a global menace given its significant contributions to the problem of climate change.
