Image of the Day: Javanese Food, Telogo Putri, Central Java
Candika and I were at Telogo Putri not far from Kaliurang and hunger became the better of us and the warung we went to had an excellent choice. Trouble is, you tend to want it all!.
Image of the Day: Kelapa, Semarang, Central Java
Coconuts (kelapa) are found throughout the archipelago and are used in almost every facet of Indonesian cooking including sweetstuff (kue). All traditional markets sell this delicious product.
Image of the Day: Bottles, Telogo Putri, Central Java
The beautiful mountain retreat of Telogo Putri, not far from Yogyakarta in Central Java, is stunning to say the least. I was up there not so long ago and whilst relaxing and sipping on an iced tea, I noticed the sunlight playing with colour on some items in the place.
Image of the Day: Pisang Vendors, Malang, Central Java
Indonesia has without a doubt the finest selection of fruits in the world. One of the most popular with tourists and locals alike are bananas (pisang). Buy a couple or buy a hand
Image of the Day: Tukang Becak, Yogyakarta, Central Java
Becaks are by far the best way to get around town. They are cheap and in general the drivers friendly. But when the heat of the midday sun gets a little bit harsh, then it’s time for a siesta!.
Image of the Day: Well, Yogyakarta, Central Java
I really like wandering down back alleyways (gangs) wherever I travel in Indonesia. It’s amazing what you see, the great conversations you can have with the locals, and, some fabulous foto opportunities.
Image of the Day: Ikan Bakar,Bali
The oceans surrounding the archipelago of Indonesia have an abundant supply of fish. I have always been a great fish lover but my stomach loves them better!. My favourite way of devouring these delicious creatures is Ikan Bakar and there are many Javanese restorans in Bali that do this.
Image of the Day: Cabe, Yogyakarta, Central Java
Go to any market in Indonesia and you will find the fiery cabe (chilli) for sale. Colourful and very hot to the palette, this delightful additive is used in practically all Indonesian cooking
Image of the Day: Potong Rambut, Yogyakarta, Central Java
Walk around any part of Yogyakarta in Central Java and you will find some amazing buildings. Some are historical and dating from the Dutch Occupation of Indonesia, others are delightful old buildings and some converted into small businesses. This delightful building was converted into a hairdresser salon (potong rambut).
Image of the Day: Jl Rotowijayan,Yogyakarta, Central Java
Yogyakarta is a unique city in many ways. Culturally it is the centre of Indonesia. Walk down any street in Yogyakarta and you will find historical buildings, and, handicrafts. Jl Rotowijayan is one of the interesting for these crafts.
